Make your stressful life better with consistent skincare regime
4 step skincare routine for stressful days
Stress is a major cause of rapid-aging in our busy lifestyle. The stress hormone with a high amount of cortisol breaks the skin’s collagen and elastin. It increases the skin’s inflammation, affecting our skin-healing mechanisms, sleeping quality, and making it even harder to repair dry or aging skin.
Stress doesn’t just cause wrinkles but also causes adult acne and creates a hydration imbalance, so your skin will feel drier than usual.
Stress can also change your breathing habits! You might hold your breath for longer, or with accelerated heartbeats, you try to “catch” your breath. You are circulating less oxygen within your body, meaning less oxygen to your skin.
But can our stress go away?!
Surely we can help de-stress ourselves so we will look and feel better! There is a lot of good advice on turning your focus to your inside, relaxing your mind and body. We find it hard to take even 15 min off our day meditating or practicing yoga.
But we can relax with a book or lying outside in one of the garden chairs for a few minutes, snacking on fresh, beautiful smelly cherry tomatoes! 🙂 Or call a friend and chat about something enjoyable or go for a long walk. Relaxing time can be also in active mode, and we think it’s okay. You don’t have to be stressed because the meditation app is driving you crazy. Lol.
As for skin care, during a very stressful time, it’s best to leave behind powerful active ingredients like strong chemical exfoliators, retinol, etc. and focusing more on hydration, nourishing, and calming skin treatments.
HERE IS REKA’S 4 SKIN CARE TIPS FOR EVERY DAY
1. EXFOLIATE & CLEANSE
I exfoliate and cleanse my face with honey in the morning, and sometimes I also put a bit of oatmeal in it. It smells incredible and super great for calming and cleaning my skin.
I power up on hydration using herbal essence facial mist even during the day.
3. EXERCISE YOUR FACE
As a start of my day, I use light morning oil that I work in with my facial roller. It helps activate my skin’s blood flow and de-puff my tired face, and it feels soooo good working on muscle tensions, particularly around the mouth and the jaw area.
And not least, I finish my skincare routine in the evening, I sleep with facial oils that contain vitamin B and E.
